Several spots around Hampshire have been nominated for Britain's 'most depressing' town for 2024.
This is part of the annual list from ILiveHere which aims to find the worst places to live in the UK.
However, for 2024 they have taken a slightly different approach to the list as they want to find the 'most depressing' towns around Britain rather than just the worst places to live.
In total, 186 places have been nominated for Britain's 'most depressing' towns, which can be found on the website here.
This list of nominees will be voted on to eventually produce a top 50.
Which places in Hampshire have been nominated?
Many might be surprised by the Hampshire places that have been nominated, which includes:
- Aldershot
- Andover
- Basingstoke
- Southampton
- Portsmouth
- Winchester
Gosport and Eastleigh had also been included on the initial list of nominations but have since been removed.
Southampton being among the nominees at all might seem bizarre to many, due to its many qualities and how much there is to do there.
Its marina, city centre, nightlife options, top art galleries, park areas plus its access to the New Forest would surely mean it would be a mistake to vote for it.
Alongside that Winchester was actually named one of the 10 best places to live in Hampshire for last year, according to Muddy Stilettos.
It was praised for its picturesque scenery and colourful streets that have attracted noteworthy celebrities such as Rick Stein and Raymond Blanc.

A statement from iLiveHere on the list said: “Bland, boring, soul destroying mediocrity with a gaping cultural void. This is what our new poll is about.
"This year we are ditching the usual suspects to focus on those towns throughout this septic isle that give you an almost-terminal case of ennui. The towns where you just exist rather than live.
"From home counties commuter dormitories that close down at 10pm to seaside resorts that are ghost towns in winter, this poll is about them."
