Updated plans to provide an extra six bedrooms at a New Forest hotel have been given the go-ahead.

An application to build a single-storey annexe at the Bartley Lodge Hotel was approved by the New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) in 2022.

Now, a revised scheme submitted by New Forest Hotels Plc has also been given the green light.

The Grade II-listed hotel at Lyndhurst Road, Cadnam, dates from the late 18th century and was originally a hunting lodge.

An NPA report said: "The siting and size of the proposed building are similar to those that have been previously approved and are considered to be acceptable.

"The position of the building would ensure it would not be intrusive in, nor have a detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the conservation area within which it is located.

"The siting, which is substantially the same as previously approved, would not result in the loss of any further trees.

"The level of accommodation to be provided has not been altered."

Summing up, the report said: "The proposed development is capable of being accommodated on the site without adverse impact on the character and appearance of the listed building, the conservation area, or trees."

The application was supported by the local parish council.
