A collection of rare classic motorbikes worth thousands has been discovered in a Southampton garage.

The double garage and its contents belong to a man who has recently died.

Charterhouse auctioneers became involved and examined the trove, valuing it at between £50,000 and £80,000.

“We were instructed by the executors to firstly value the collection and then arrange for their sale.”

More than 15 bikes from the collection going up for auction, and most are partially dismantled.

In addition to the bikes, there were also several engines and assorted bike spares.

The auction will take place on March 7 at the Haynes Motor Museum.
