A town council is objecting to plans for an extension on a Romsey house.

Nina Hourihan wants to demolish a garage and build a two-storey extension at a property in Primrose Way.

Romsey Town Council's planning committee decided to lodge an objection at its meeting on March 7.

In addition, Test Valley Borough Council received one public objection and three neutral comments.

The town council's objection said: “The proposed extension would have a detrimental impact on the character of the close. The proposed extension is to build up to the boundary of the neighbouring dwelling.

“Inadequate space for second parking bay which impinges on highway land. This a three bedroom property being converted into a four bedroom property."

Marianne Hansen, of Primrose Way, said: “Starting to allow deviation from original footprint would soon encourage over-development and ruin the character of this lovely estate and even more so the small close of Primrose Way.”

Alyson May, also of Primrose Way, said: “Although I do not have any objections to the extension itself I do have some reservations regarding the building work.

“The close is small and parking is very limited, I am concerned that work vans will be abandoned wherever space allows and that there is a very likely chance that my driveway will become blocked, we have three vehicles in our household and all finish work early in the day.”
