The highly anticipated opening date for a new 24-hour gym has been revealed.

JD Gyms will open its latest facility in West End Road on June 24.

Several signs advertising the exciting new space of appeared on the exterior of the building.

The 26,000 square foot gym is only a stone’s throw away from the existing PureGym in Bitterne.

Part of the retailer JD Sports group, the gym is set to offer access for £5 for the first month.

Free parking will also be offered onsite, the company has confirmed.

JD Gyms chief executive Alun Peacock said: “Southampton Bitterne is a fantastic location for us and we're excited to expand the JD Gyms brand into Hampshire.

"We’re incredibly proud to be creating such a high standard of fitness facility for the people of Southampton.”

The facility will boast ‘hundreds of pieces of the industry’s best cardio, strength and functional fitness equipment’.

It will also offer a large free weights zones, Eleiko functional zone, boxing zone, sled track, dedicated glute area and saunas in the changing rooms.

The gym has replaced the former Mercantile Flea site which suddenly closed last year.

It was formerly home to Sainsbury’s’ clothing and homeware range, along with a pharmacy.
