A fundraiser set up in memory of a lorry driver who was killed in a horrific crash on the M27 has raised more than £16,000.

In total, £16,434 has been raised for the brother of Michal Kaminski, who died in a crash near junction 5 of the M27 in February.

More than 800 people have donated to the Just Giving page which was set up by colleagues at Salesmark West Ltd, the flooring company which Michal worked for.

Those who donated include friends, colleagues and customers of the company who said they often saw Michal whilst carrying out deliveries.

The funds are expected to go to Rafal Kaminski, Michal's younger brother who he lived with at their home in Salisbury.

Just weeks on from the crash, Rafal told the Echo his family had been left "devastated" by Michal's tragic loss at the age of just 36.

He has since been left to pay all of the bills including rent, car insurance and tax which he previously shared with his older brother.

Jasmin Green, who set up the fundraising page said: "The hole left in Raf's life is more than the emotional loss of a dearly loved brother.

“Mike and Raf rented a house and a car together and shared all the bills. Raf has the sad reality that he has to manage this by himself as he has also lost his financial partner."

One comment left on the fundraising page read: "So sorry to hear of your sad loss,l had seen your brother a few times as l deliver to you and like your brother you are very kind friendly guy, condolences to you and all your family and colleagues."

Another donator said: "Our condolences go out to all Mike's family and friends, including the staff at Salesmark West, who I know are all struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of Mike."

A 32-year-old man, a 37-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, all of no fixed abode, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

All three have been released on bail until May 21 while the investigation into what happened continues.

The coroner has been informed, though no date has been set for an inquest at this time.
