A Southampton man has been charged with a string of offences after allegedly ramming police vehicles with van in Hamble.

Steven Alan Seagrave has been charged with multiple driving offences after the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 7).

After approaching the vehicle, police said that a male exited the van and began to run away from officers, the van then made off from the scene.

Once the male had been detained, the vehicle was seen again by officers in Hamble and allegedly attempted to crash into one of the police vehicles.

Armed officers were waiting further down the road with a stop stick which punctured the tyres on the van.

Despite having punctured tyres, police said the driver continued to drive on, ramming the van into another police vehicle and causing extensive damage.

The occupant of the vehicle was the detained by police.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that a 36-year-old man was then arrested and charged with a string of offences.

The spokesperson said: “A 36-year-old man from Southampton was arrested and subsequently charged with driving whilst disqualified, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

“Steven Alan Seagrave, of no fixed abode, was detained in Satchell Lane, Hamble in the early hours of Sunday morning, April 7.”
