A section of a busy hospital car park is closed to visitors this weekend.

The lower level of the orange car park at Southampton General Hospital is closed today and tomorrow.

During this time a forklift will be operating nearby to enable some major extension and building works.

The upper level of the car park will be open as usual, but patients and visitors are advised to consider using alternative parking arrangements or travel alternatives.

A spokesperson from University Hospital Southampton said: “Pedestrian access around the car park will be restricted and there will be marshals and signage in place to advise and support visitors and patients.

“There is restricted parking provision for blue badge holders to the top deck of orange car park and additional spaces being made available in the blue car park.

“We appreciate your patience while this work is carried out.”
