An Eastleigh primary school has been told it is a ‘good’ school by Ofsted after its latest visit from inspectors.

Nightingale Primary School, on Blackbird Road in Eastleigh, has received its latest Ofsted report after a visit from inspectors on March 5.

It retains its previous rating of 'good' following its last inspection which took place in September 2018.

The primary school educates children from the ages of four to 11 and the school currently has 397 pupils on the school roll.

Within the report, Ofsted highlighted the wide range of learning opportunities available to students, effective staff support to pupils and the school’s commitment to constantly better itself.

The inspector wrote in the report: “Children get off to a strong start to their education as soon as they join the school.

“In many subjects, the important knowledge and skills that pupils must learn and the order in which they should learn them have been identified right from the start of Reception to the end of Year 6.

“This ensures that teachers know exactly what they need to teach so that pupils build understanding over time.”

In the report, the inspector also commended the school's efforts in expanding teachers' knowledge of effective teaching methods – with the inspector stating that this ensures that every pupil receives the support they need to succeed.

The inspector continued: “The school aspires for all pupils to experience a broad range of learning opportunities and achieve well. Pupils are known as individuals.

“Pupils enjoy helping to improve the school through leadership roles such as librarians, young governors and pupil ‘future leaders.’”

The report did add that in some subjects the precise knowledge that pupils need to learn is not always clear enough.

Reflecting on the report, headteacher, Hannah Beckett, said: "This overwhelmingly positive report from Ofsted is a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in our school community.

“We are immensely proud of what we have achieved together, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing the best possible education for our students.

“Together, we are grateful for the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our pupils."
