A man wielding a ‘meat cleaver’ and hurling verbal abuse at people has been arrested.
Officers were called to Cranbury Terrace at 1.30pm on Wednesday.
It follows reports a man had been seen holding the meat cleaver on the Southampton road and was reportedly being verbally abusive.
Officers attended and arrested a man – who is 54 and from Southampton - on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He remains in police custody at the current time.
