JIMMY Adams hopes to continue as a one-day opener after leading Hampshire to a second successive Natwest Pro40 win.
The left-hander had not scored a one-day fifty for Hampshire before hitting a career-best 86 in yesterday's five-wicket, Duckworth/Lewis win against Somerset at Taunton.
Adams is best known as an opening batsman in the LV County Championship.
But until the first match following Paul Terry's departure, against Sussex last Wednesday, Adams had not opened for the Hawks in a one-day game for four years.
He was given the chance by second XI coach Giles White, Terry's replacement while the search for a long-term appointment goes on, and captain Dimitri Mascarenhas.
He responded by showing the form that helped him to a match-winning 170 in Hampshire's recent second XI Trophy semi-final win against Glamorgan.
