Two people have been charged with shoplifting after a plainclothes police operation.

Southampton police said they were at Co-op in Ocean Village when hundreds of pounds worth of goods were stolen.

Mark Collison, 45, of Ruskin Road in Eastleigh, has been charged with two thefts.

He is accused of taking £624 worth of clothes from Hugo Boss in Westquay on March 21, and £90 worth of coffee from Co-op in Ocean Village on April 21.

He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on April 29.

Robbie Jones, aged 29, of no fixed address, was charged with eight thefts.

These were all at Co-op in Ocean Village on April 8, 10, 15 and 16. He is accused of taking food, wine and other times to the value of around £506.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on April 22.

At the hearing, he was bailed by magistrates and will appear at the same court again on July 24.
