A driver was seen speeding, using the hard shoulder and undertaking before crashing on the M3.

Police were called just after 10am on Thursday following a report of a crash involving two cars near junction six of the M3.

The crash on the northbound carriageway involved a silver Ford Focus and a grey Audi A5.

The road was closed until around 12.30pm as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Fortunately, the driver of the Ford only sustained minor injuries.

However, following the crash, officers were told that, prior to the accident, the Audi had been seen by other drivers using the hard shoulder, speeding and undertaking on the M3 and M27.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old man from London on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through through drink and drugs.

Police would like now to speak to anyone who may have seen or witnessed the moments before the crash.

A spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant dash cam footage of this incident, or the manner of driving of either vehicle in the moments leading up to the collision.
