The Foodbank Angels of Southampton rallied local artists for a successful charity event.

The event was aimed at bolstering and promoting food banks in the area.

On Sunday evening, the fundraiser had the participation of more than 50 highly gifted artists, both individuals and community group members.

They took to the stage with performances, raising necessary funds for food banks.

The event was sponsored by Renu Dublish and Amar Randhawa from Sanjha restaurant, and Sarika Khurana from SarikaKreates.

Volunteers from the Eastleigh Basics Bank and Southampton City Mission were present and received £1200 each from the proceeds.

The food bank initiative started back in March 2020, a few days after the first lockdown.

Following an enlightening report in the Daily Echo, friends Sutapa, Suparna, and Sandhya banded together and began contributing to the food banks.

Their initial gesture of generosity soon transformed into a weekly endeavour under the Hampshire Puja and Cultural Association.

Over 26 weeks from April 4, 2020, £3,500 was donated in essentials.

In 'Round 2.0' of giving back, the friends, now joined by additional individuals, restarted in April 2023 and are currently in their 2nd year.

Over that period of time, they've donated goods worth more than £5,000.

Across both rounds, they've donated approximately £10,000 worth of essentials to food banks.

Fulfilling their mission to help those in need, a team of people have been at the helm of this initiative — Sutapa, Suparna, Debi, Kavitha, Monisha, Haimanti, Jublee, Bharati, Kirti P, Kirti R, Sumedha, Abanti, Moumi, Ranu, Abi, Baishakhi, Dalia, Peyalee, Mamta, Kajari, Jayshree, Saoma, Sarika K, Sarika C, Sweta, Sarbani, Anuradha, Manju, Renu, Shre, Sophie, Sumedha, Sadhana, and Sandhya.
