A MAN has been deported to Uganda despite claims that his life would be in danger.

Hampshire campaigners lost their fight to help John Nyombi, known as Bosco, stay in Britain when he was flown back to Africa last night.

The gay 38-year-old said returning to his home country would put his life at risk because of his sexuality.

Bosco had been working for Stonham Housing association, Southampton, with mentally ill people for six years while awaiting the result of his immigration application.

In Uganda homosexuality is illegal and carries a punishment of life imprisonment.
