A GROUP of children discovered the body of an elderly man floating in a Hampshire marina.
Three boys found the body in Haslar Marina, Gosport, when they were walking on the pontoon.
A police spokesman said the children alerted yachtsmen who managed to drag the man, who lived in Gosport but has not yet been identified, from the water.
He was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham by ambulance, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The man was seen on the marina's CCTV walking along the pontoon at 11.41am on Sunday. The boys discovered his body ten minutes later.
Police are not treating his death as suspicious and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
A post mortem is due to take place later today and his identity will be released when all his next of kin have been informed of his death.
