Police today stepped up their hunt for a knifeman after a teenager was stabbed in the street.
The 18-year-old was taken to Southampton General Hospital after suffering a stab wound to his shoulder and a slash across his face.
Detectives say they believe his condition is serious but not life threatening.
The stabbing happened close to the Old Thatched House pub, Romsey Road, Southampton, yesterday.
One lane of the road was sealed off by police who urged drivers to avoid the area and find another route home.
Officers, including teams of armed police, launched a large search of the surrounding area, including parts of Shirley Warren, to find the man responsible.
He was described as black, wearing a bright blue baseball cap, camel coloured trousers and is around 5ft 10 ins tall.
He was seen running off in the direction of Tebourba Way and anyone who sees him is being urged to call police on 999 and not to approach him.
The stabbing happened at 3.20pm.
Anyone with information should call police on 0845 045 4545.

Standby for some police spokesperson to explain that this kind of crime is extremely rare in Southampton. Unless the knifeman is known to the victim, he's not likely to be caught, and the police will be able to go back to directing their days' efforts toward filling in forms, in an effort to bring a prosecution against shoplifters and jay walkers.

fatboy wrote: "He was described as black, wearing a bright blue baseball cap, camel coloured trousers and is around 5ft 10 ins tall". Was that an albino camel or what? What colour is a Camel exactly, I know- the same colour as his trousers......Camels can be coloured black, through all shades of brown, to white. That'll make identifying him easy....
Come on Hampshire Police, I'm not going out looking for him until i know???

The colour of a person's skin has no bearing on their personality.
