IT was the only hair he had left.

Yet Dave Athwal didn’t think twice about losing his moustache of 32 years for charity.

The store manager of Super-drug in Woolston, Southamp-ton, removed his tache without a spot of shaving foam in sight.

After a flurry of e-mails to other Superdrug stores across the county, Dave decided the hair on his upper lip could be removed for a price.

Donations have flooded in and currently stand at £300 – all for the Naomi House children’s hospice in Sutton Scotney, near Winchester.

Dave, who lives in Shirley, said: “It feels really weird, but cleaner. My wife said that if it made me look worse she wouldn’t let me in the house tonight.

“I think I’ll grow it back – but I did it for a good cause so it’s completely worth it.”
