BOMB disposal experts safely detonated an unexploded bomb dug up in Southampton today.
Builders working on the former Vosper Thornycroft site, in Victoria Road, Woolston, discovered the device, believed to date from the Second World War, just before 10am.
Three bomb squad officers attempted to detonate the bomb in a controlled explosion at 1pm but police informed workers who were evacuated from the site that they had to try again.
The second attempt was successful and work was resumed at about 2.30pm.
