A SCHOOLGIRL who caused more than half-a-million pounds worth of damage when she set fire to a Hampshire classroom has walked from court.

The 13-year-old admitted three counts of arson after starting three fires at Henry Cort Community College in Fareham last June.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, started fires in a changing room, toilets and a design and technology classroom.

The whole school had to be evacuated and it took firefighters more than 30 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Judge Richard Price gave the youngster a 12-month supervision order.
