SAINTS legend Matt Le Tissier is tackling a dangerous new opponent - hospital superbugs like MRSA and C-difficile.

The former striker turned TV pundit will join forces with Health Minister Ann Keen today to launch a national campaign reminding patients and visitors to wash their hands.

The pair will be backed up by animated character Max when The Max Guide To Hygiene is unveiled at Southampton General Hospital.

The scheme was devised by businessman Ashley Brooks after he nearly died of MRSA which he contracted at an Essex hospital.

He has since spent £400,000 of his own money in a bid to stop others going through the same ordeal.
