FOUR illegal workers are set to be deported from the UK after they were found to be breaching their visas at a Southampton restaurant.

The group were arrested after a raid at the Kairali South Indian Restaurant on Burgess Road.

After questioning staff and checking identity documents, officers from the UK Border Agency arrested three Indian men who were working in breach of their conditions of entry and one Sri Lankan man who had overstayed his visa.

The men remain in custody while their deportation is pending.

The owner of the business was issued with a notice of potential liability in respect of the illegal workers and may now face a fine of up to £10,000 for the illegal workers employed.

Meanwhile, a Hampshire illegal worker was arrested during a further raid by the UK Border Agency.

The team of immigration officers targeted R & K News on Stockbridge Road in Winchester.

They worked from intelligence gathered by the Agency’s Portsmouth based enforcement team.

Officers arrested an Indian man who had overstayed his visa and his permission to stay in the UK.

He was taken into custody while officers work to remove him from the UK.

The owner of this business was also issued with a notice of potential liability in respect of the illegal worker and warned he may now face a fine of up to £10,000.
