BIBLICAL stories and verses have been retold in the form of a flower festival at Romsey’s Abbey United Reformed Church.

Last weekend’s festival attracted huge crowds and has been hailed a success by the vicar, the Rev Terry Hinks.

The event, entitled The Creative world: The Bible in Flowers, was aimed at expressing the Bible in colour beginning with the story of creation in the Book of Genesis and concluding with a vision of a new heaven and earth in the Book of Revelation.

Arrangers from the Abbey United Reformed Church and other town churches got together to transform the building into a riot of colour.

The Rev Hinks said: “The flowers themselves were stunning, ranging from simple wildflowers to exotic orchids and filling the church with wonderful scents.

“The closing service took the theme of the Bible in flower, word and song and gave the opportunity to hear some of the Bible passages that had inspired the arrangements and to reflect on the flowers with prayer and music.”
