MYSTERY will forever surround why a man who was due to inherit millions came to commit suicide in a South-ampton hotel room, an inquest heard.
Kenneth Osakwe was found dead in a room at the Etap hotel in May having drunk a litre of antifreeze, Southampton Coroner’s Court was told.
The 26-year-old had been due to inherit his late parents’ estate which was said to be worth “several million pounds”.
Days before his death Mr Osakwe, from London, had successfully applied for a job at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 before taking the Eurostar to Amsterdam, the court was told.
Detective Sergeant Chris Yates said there was no explanation as to why on May 26 Mr Osakwe arrived in Southampton and checked into the Etap hotel in West Quay Road. He then bought a two-litre bottle of antifreeze from Halford’s in West Quay Retail Park.
On May 29 a maid found Mr Osakwe, who had no links to the city, dead on the floor of his room with a suicide note left on his laptop and half the antifreeze gone.
Pathologist Adrian Bateman said Mr Osakwe died from poisoning from drinking antifreeze. Coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of suicide.
