AN inquest has been opened into the deaths of two men killed when their light aircraft burst into flames as it smashed into a field in Hampshire A post-mortem examination revealed that Peter Fitzmaurice, 67, of Boynes Wood Lane, Alton, and Stuart Francis, 60, of Priors Cross Road, Camberley, died of multiple injuries. The accident happened close to a farm in the village of Tangley, near Andover.
The plane crashed on Saturday at around 12.30pm.
An air ambulance, rapid response doctor, firefighters and police were called to the scene.
Emergency services were initially unable to approach the aircraft as fire tore through it.
An investigation has been launched by the Air Accident Investigation Board.
The inquest was opened and adjourned at Winchester Coroner’s Court.
