Today Britain remembers the fallen of two world wars and the many conflicts that followed.
Remembrance Day Services
■ Southampton, 10.30am A march from the Civic Centre to the city’s cenotaph in Watts Park will start at 10.30am ahead of the two-minute silence and wreath laying ceremony at 11am.
■ Winchester, 9.25am Standard bearers and members of the public will march from the King Alfred statue to the cathedral for a service at 10am. Following the service at the cathedral wreaths will be laid at around 10.45am.
■ Hedge End, 10.15am Around 700 people are expected to march from the 2000 Centre in St John’s Road to the war memorial on the corner of Church Lane where a short service will be held.
■ Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley Abbey, 3pm A service will be held at the war graves ceremony in the park.
■ Chandler’s Ford, 10.45am A service will be held at St Boniface Church.
■ Romsey, 10.25am A parade will start at the Lortemore Place car park to War Memorial Park where wreaths will be laid and a service will be conducted by Romsey vicar, Rev Tim Sledge.
■ Netley Marsh, 10.30am The service at St Matthew’s Parish Church, Netley Marsh starts at 10.30am with a wreath laying taking place at the nearby war memorial at 11.15am.
■ Eastleigh, 10.15am The Eastleigh parade starts between Southampton road and Market Street before making its way to the town’s war memorial.
■ Fareham, 10am A service will be held at the Trinity Church in West Street with a special reading of names on the war memorial at the front of the church.
■ Lymington, 10.50am A parade will start from the Town Hall car park at 10.25am to St Thomas Church, next to the war memorial starting at 10.50am.
■ Lyndhurst, 10.45am A service will be held at St Michael’s and All Angels Church, a parade from St Michael’s and All Angels primary School to the war memorial will follow the service at midday.
■ Marchwood, 11am Troops from the 17 Port and Maritime Regiment will march to St John’s Church from their Army base for a service starting at 11am.
■ Fawley, 3pm A service will be held at All Saints Church on Sunday afternoon.
■ Sway, 9.30am Councillor Barry Rickman will be jointly reading a roll of honour at St Luke’s Parish Church followed by a wreath laying at the village war memorial at 11am.
■ Gosport, 11am A service will be held at the town’s War Memorial Hospital with wreath laying and music from a silver band.
■ Copythorne, 9.25am A parade, starting at Copythorne Parish Hall, is expected to attract around 200 people and will make its way to St Mary’s Church where a service will be held at 10am. Wreaths laid shortly before 11am.
