AN average half-term break from school might be crammed with playing computer games, watching TV and seeing friends.
But 11-year-old Sam Bassil chose to fundraise for Help for Heroes after watching the Pride of Britain Awards on television.
Sam, a pupil at Hounsdown School in Totton, raised £217.50 when he did a 5k run around Southampton Common to raise cash for the soldiers wounded in Afghanistan.
He said: “I was watching the programme on TV and I thought it was really good what people did and I wanted to have a go.”
Now Sam has got the fundraising bug and hopes to do more events for charity.
