A SOUTHAMPTON man sent cannabis as a gift to a woman with whom he was besotted.
Adam Basford, 25, put the small amount of drugs in the post.
“It was another form of his fixation,” said prosecutor Tim Moores at the city crown court.
When Basford was arrested near her home, the woman gave police the cannabis which she had kept.
Basford, of Stafford Road, Southampton, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
He was jailed for three months but because of time spent on remand, he was released immediately.
However Judge Peter Ralls QC, who read a psychiatric report, told him: “If you continue to offend, you will be sent to prison for a long time.”
