A SOUTHAMPTON lunch club is celebrating after being given a £700 cash boost thanks to the Daily Echo.
We teamed up with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation to give away cash to community groups and sports teams in our Great £40,000 Community Cash Giveaway.
St James West End Lunch Club was one of 39 successful applicants – and was awarded £700.
Club co-ordinator Dorothy Ward said the money would be used to pay for a slap-up Christmas lunch for all the members.
She added: “Our thanks go to the Daily Echo and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation, the grant means we can have a really festive Christmas.”
