AN investigation is under way after a door slammed open and windows were smashed on a cross-Solent ferry.
Glass from two windows shattered across the floor of the Red Jet service heading for Southampton after the door blew open in rough seas yesterday morning.
Passengers claimed crew members battled to grab hold of the door to close it, before one of them was fitted with a harness as he hung out of the open side door.
The service, which had just left West Cowes at around 11.45am, remained stationary for around ten minutes as Red Funnel staff managed to close the door, which it is thought was thrown open when the locking system disengaged.
Red Funnel which operates the high speed Red Jet passenger ferry service from Town Quay, confirmed an investigation into the incident was under way.
