A WOMAN was seriously injured in a crash on the outskirts of Winchester this morning.
The victim was cut free from the wreckage of her Ford Fiesta after a collision on the Andover Road North, just outside Sir John Moore Barracks at Littleton at about 9am.
Firefighters cut off the roof to allow the woman, said to be in her 30s, to be taken out on a spinal board.
She was flown by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with suspected pelvic and internal injuries.
Crew manager Richard North, of Winchester Fire Station, said today: "The impact was on the side of the Ford Fiesta and one female was trapped for a while.
"We cut the roof off and folded it over the bonnet and used rams to increase the space inside the car.. She came out on a spinal board."
Andover Road North, the B3420, was closed in both directions by police.
Attending the scene were two fire crews from Winchester as well as one from Sutton Scotney as well as several ambulance crews and police.
