ASSOCIATE Kate Newton has joined law firm Bond Pearce’s competition team, bringing with her six years of experience in competition law.

Kate specialises in advising companies on their trading practices and has a sound understanding of the role that economics plays in advising clients on competition law risk.

She has represented clients before the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission, both in relation to cartel and merger investigations.

She also has significant experience in advising clients on competition law compliance including dawn raids, compliance audits and the creation of bespoke compliance programmes.

Kate trained at international law firm, Hammonds, and then joined the antitrust team at Wragge & Co, where she was an associate. Bond Pearce’s competition law team works with major clients such as Game Group, Carlsberg UK, B&Q and Royal Mail and is particularly well known for its advice on behavioural matters, compliance and regulated industries.

With five competition lawyers, the team is now one of the biggest competition teams outside of London.

Nick Page, head of competition and chairman of Bond Pearce said: “Our competition law practice is a key element of the service we offer to clients. As a lawyer with fantastic experience and skills to bring to the firm, and a sound perception of the competition law pressure points faced by clients, Kate will add further commercial understanding of what our clients really need from us.”
