THE characters, storyline and settings from Frank L Baum’s book are brought to life in a magical fairytale with special effects including a tornado and the melting of the Wicked Witch of the West from December 9 to January 3.

The cast features some familiar faces including Julian Eardley, last year’s lovable Dame in Beauty and the Beast, who plays the Cowardly Lion, and Chris Corcoran who played the Giant and the King in Jack and the Beanstalk (2007), who plays the Tinman.

Dorothy is played by Serena Giacomini, Jack Cassidy plays the Scarecrow, Clive Flint the Wizard, Felicity McCormack the Good Witch and the cast is completed with talented young dancers who play the Munchkins, winged monkeys and citizens of the Emerald City.

The pantomime takes its inspiration from Baum’s book in which Dorothy and her dog Toto set off on the yellow brick road to find the Wizard of Oz. Along the way they are joined by Scarecrow,Tinman and Cowardly Lion. Scarecrow is looking for a new brain,Tinman is in need of a heart and Cowardly Lion is desperate to find some courage. With help from the Munchkins, they set off for Oz meeting the green-faced Wicked Witch of the West and her army of flying monkeys along the way.
