Bestival news!

FRESH from winning the Family Festival Award at this year’s UK Festival Awards, Camp Bestival is all set to continue its crusade to bring back the Great British summer holiday at Lulworth Castle next summer.

Curator Rob da Bank has already booked a host of acts to bring you plenty of musical thrills on the first weekend of the 2010 school summer holidays, from July 30 to August 1.

Nutty boys Madness will join the family feast of fun with offerings from their extensive back catalogue.

Synth-pop overlords The Human League will also be gracing Lulworth Castle with a superlative selection of their anthemic tunes.

Also joining Camp Bestival’s ever-eclectic line up will be the living embodiment of The Funk, George Clinton with Parliament/Funkadelic.

Current king of the pop tree, Calvin Harris, will be invading the stage along with MOBO award-winner Chipmunk.

That’s as well as last year’s kids’ favourite Mr Tumble making a return, Bill Drummond with his amazing musical art project, the English National Ballet, and – for foodies – River Cottage Cafe.

Rob told Scene South: “It seems only yesterday that we were basking in the sun singing along to Mr Tumble and then watching PJ Harvey captivate the whole site with her extraordinary solo performance. But it’s that time again to unveil what we’ve been planning for 2010.

“From Saturday night headliners Madness to Bill Drummond’s inspirational new music project, from folk royalty Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick to DJ Yoda and Beardyman, it’s looking like a typically random yet happy family.”
