A SHOP worker has told how he feared for his life during a terrifying knifepoint robbery.

Isaac Curtis and his colleague were preparing to close up at McColl’s in Pennington when a man and woman burst in armed with an eight-inch kitchen blade.

The 22-year-old supervisor was told to empty the contents of the tills while his co-worker, a woman in her 40s, was forced into a back room to open the safe.

Her thumb was cut during the frightening ordeal and she claims that the knife was pressed against her neck.

Mr Curtis, who lives in Lymington, said: “I’ve never been so scared in my life. I kind of guessed that if I had not done what they said I would have been stabbed. I was pretty fearful for my life.

“He demanded keys to the safe and I was petrified. I kept thinking ‘I’m getting married next year, so just keep calm’. It is just a blur and seems surreal now.”

About £200 was taken from the till and an unknown amount of cash from the safe was handed over before the pair fled from the Milford Road-based store into Elm Avenue.

It is believed that the offenders escaped in a silver-coloured car.

The man with the knife was 5ft 9in to 6ft, dressed in black with a hood and tights over his face.

The female offender was a lot shorter but dressed similarly.

It is believed that two people were in the store just before the incident and may have seen the offenders.

Police have released images of the duo in a bid to track down witnesses to the raid, which happened at about 9.20pm.

● A 29-year-old man and a 20-year old woman, both from the Lymington area, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery following the incident.

Both have been bailed pending further enquiries and are due to report back to Lyndhurst police station in February.
