LAST week’s revelation about Sir Rodney Walker has been forced off the back pages by yesterday’s meaty announcement.

The winner of the Pukka Pies UK Snooker Championship, which is currently at the semi-final stage, will win his body weight in pies.

The Leicestershire-based company organised a weigh-in in Telford on Friday.

Apparently, Ding Junhui, already in the final after beating Stephen Maguire last night, would win 276 pies. John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan could claim 320 each.

As usual, the conspiracy theorists were out in force. The announcement was made AFTER Stephen Lee and Shaun Murphy were knocked out in the last 16.

Meanwhile, the snooker world awaits the Messiah.

Barry Hearn returns from holiday on December 15.

The next day, the chairman of Leyton Orient Football Club and the Professional Darts Corporation is expected to be co-opted as chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA).

Hearn would replace Sir Rodney who, along with directors Jim McMahon and Mike Dunn, was voted off the WPBSA board at last week’s AGM in Sheffield.
