A TRIAL of a new anti-cancer drug is one step closer to being carried out at Southampton General Hospital.

Cancer Reseach UK and Cancer Research Technology has struck a deal with a German pharmaceutical company to begin the first phase of clinical trials of the monoclonal antibody called DI-B4.

The charity hopes that it may one day help patients with leukaemia and lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cell, who do not respond to existing therapies.
