WATCH out – there’s more snow about.

As Hampshire continues to shiver in sub-zero conditions, weather experts are warning the county is likely to be hit with more of the white stuff this weekend.

Fresh snowfalls are expected throughout tomorrow, threatening to bring parts of the county to a standstill again.

And with the mercury unlikely to push far into positive figures, if at all, forecasters say we could have to wait until at least next weekend for the first sign of any thaw.

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for Hampshire for today, tomorrow and the early part of next week.

Forecaster Sarah Holland said Southampton was likely to escape the worst of any snow, but the rest of the county might not be so lucky.

“Saturday is going to be the best day of the weekend, but it’s going to be very cold and not much above freezing, although there will be lots of nice sunny spells,” she said.

“The winds are picking up slightly, though, with gusts of around 27mph, and that’s going to make it feel a lot colder.

“Tomorrow, Southampton is on the edge of where we’re expecting more snow to come in right through the daytime, although there will be sunny spells too. We have a warning out for the area for more snow tomorrow and the early part of next week.

“As we move towards next weekend temperatures might start to rise, but we’re certainly in this cold snap for a while longer.”

Schools will not decide until the last minute whether or not they will be open on Monday. As soon as head teachers announce their decisions we will publish the information on this website.
