WHITCHURCH Town Councillors are up in arms over Hampshire Ambulance Services announcement to axe Whitchurch and And-over stations.

At Monday night's Town Council meeting it was decided to write a letter to the ambulance service opposing the decision to close 16 of its stations in the county.

In the last year Whitchurch residents have lost their Roads Policing Unit and had to fight to save their post office and more recently their delivery office. Councillors were left wondering what else was going to be axed as part of cost-cutting schemes.

Irene Clarke, mayor and chairman of Whitchurch Town Council said: "I am very concerned about it.

"We are on the edge of the A34 which obviously generates a lot of calls to the ambulance service."
