THE 2005 Test Valley Tour Cycling Series got of to a fantastic start with hundreds of cyclists flocking to Andover High Street in April to cycle the first road route of the series.
Building on the success of last year's innovative event, Test Valley Borough Council is once again working with the well known Gorrick Mountain Bike Club to offer a Trail Trax orienteering event on Sunday.
Unlike the other three events in the series, where the route is carefully way-marked and riders just have to follow the arrows, this event aims to test not only fitness levels but map reading and planning skills as well.
Working in family teams, pairs or on your own, cycle orienteering involves cycling to off-road checkpoints of varying value within a set period of time.
Starting from the Depot Youth Complex in Andover, the aim is to navigate and cycle to as many checkpoints as possible, to collect the highest score and return back to the base within either one and a half or three hours.
