ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly homes complete with solar panels and low-flush toilets will be built in Andover's Artists Way despite objection from local residents.
The 17 energy saving homes will be part of Sarsen Housing Association's affordable housing.
A meeting of Test Valley Borough Council's northern area planning committee has backed the development.
The site is currently grassland with a pathway connecting Shepherds Lodge to Artists Way. The homes will be in two blocks. One two-storey block will contain five, two and three bedroom houses and a three-storey block will have 12, one and two bedroom flats.
The homes will face southwards and include solar panels to provide hot water and electricity. Wind cowls will supply fresh air and extract stale air without using fans. Boilers will be fuelled by wood pellets and individual log burners will also provide hot water and extra warmth.
