A GROUP of students from Southampton Institute have successfully combined volunteering with academic studies.
They all completed the institute's community volunteering unit, which means they get formal recognition for their community work.
Different types of volunteering work included providing one-to-one mentoring across Southampton's schools or working with SCRATCH (Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship).
Unit leader Anne Carty commented: "Working with this year's students on the Community Volunteering Unit has been both a pleasure and a privilege.
"These students have shown a remarkable dedication and commitment to their volunteering work and have made a real difference to our local community.
"They have also been great ambassadors for Southampton Institute."
