THERE were no kitchen nightmares for chefs who cooked up a selection of nutritious meals at a Southampton hostel for the homeless.
The event was organised to make the most of all the free food donated by the city's supermarkets to feed the homeless and other deserving groups.
Housing charity Two Saints hosted the event at Patrick House, Millbrook.
Catering staff at the hostel, as well as cooks from other charities, learned how to cook up some tasty treats during the Fareshare Eat Well Roadshow.
It is through the organisation Fareshare, managed locally by SCRATCH (Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship), that agreements are made with supermarkets to donate food which would otherwise be dumped.
Every year SCRATCH supplies 180 tons of food to 22 projects in the city, providing 17,000 meals.
