IT'S more a case of 'All's Well That Begins Well' for Shakespeare-based Titchfield Festival Theatre (TFT). The award-winning group launches its season with Shakespeare's much loved comedy All's Well That Ends Well and for director Frank Veresi the pressure is on.

He explained: "Being the first production of the run, it's so important that things get off to a good start so we can encourage audiences to come for the rest of the summer and enjoy the next three plays we put on over the next few months."

The fifth season for TFT, who perform all their shows in the dramatic setting of Titchfield Abbey, have planned their most ambitious season yet.

The group has hired costumes from the Royal Shakespeare Company for the first show, which is set in classic Elizabethan style, as per the Bard's era.

Frank Veresi has directed four other productions for the group and brings 20 years' experience in performing and directing drama.

He said: "Shakespeare is so timeless. You can take his work and mould it however you like."

All's Well That Ends Well tells the story of Bertram (Dan Martin), the Count of Rousillion, who has been forced to marry a commoner - Helena (played by newcomer Julia Burgess), a doctor's daughter, who has saved the King of France from certain death.

As a reward she can marry any noble she chooses.

To his horror the aloof Bertram is chosen and immediately rejects her. Will Helena get her man?

Frank added: "This is a wonderful comedy, full of high drama and hilarious scenes, perfect for a warm June evening."
