HENDY Ford in Fareham is to host a dedicated Motabilty weekend on June 18 and 19 for all current and prospective customers.

Adapted cars and equipment will be on display and visitors can quiz Motability specialists about the scheme and cars available.

As an added bonus, Hendy Ford will be holding a prize draw to win a £100 family meal.

Buyers over the weekend will also be offered a £100 discount on a Motability car.

The Motability Scheme was set up to provide disabled people with safe, reliable and affordable cars.

Cars account for 99 per cent of the Motability's activities and Hendy Ford has a long tradition of supporting the scheme.

In the UK, about 400,000 people use the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance from the government to meet the cost of having a car.

At Hendy Ford in Newgate Lane, Fareham, Motability vehicles on display will include an adapted Ford Fusion and an automatic Focus.

Adam Lawrence of Hendy Ford said the dealership was committed to ensuring as many people as possible know how easy it is to become mobile.

"This is very much an awareness weekend for people in the region,'' said Adam.

"The vast majority of Motability cars do not even have to be adapted for users, so the opportunities are tremendous.''

He said Motability customers can choose a brand new car of their choice on a three- or five-year lease.

Full insurance, breakdown cover, servicing, tyre and windscreen replacement are all included in a single monthly payment.

Many cars are available by customers transferring their allowance to Motability

for the period of the agreement.

However, on larger or more expensive models, an additional payment (known as an advance payment) may be required.
