PARTNERS from nine European port cities, including Southampton, have met in Cherbourg, France, to discuss different approaches to addressing the employment and skill needs of their maritime industries.
Port cities are particularly vulnerable to changes in the labour market and often experience high levels of unemployment.
Cyclical changes in marine sector employment can lead to a loss of skilled workers.
