EASTON & Martyr Worthy will entertain Sparsholt in the county final of the npower Village Cup at Cockets Mead on Sunday, June 19.

They beat Amport by nine wickets, while in the other semi-final tie Sparsholt beat Paultons on run rate after play was abandoned midway through the evening session due to rain.

Matt Perry-Lewis (4-16) took the bowling credits as Amport were restricted to 137-8 off 40 overs.

Steve Green (56 not out) and Ian Butcher (47) swept Easton to victory.

Paultons were interestingly placed at 120-1 (Colin James 65) off 24.2 overs chasing Sparsholt's powerful 233-8 (Carl Nicholls 87) when play was abandoned at the Norman Edwards Ground.

"The game was building towards a close finish, but the steady rain caused the ball to resemble a bar of soap and the game became a mockery," said Sparsholt skipper Ian Stuart.

But, by then, Sparsholt were ahead on run rate.

Rowledge reached the Berkshire/Surrey group final with a narrow six-run win over Englefield Green and host Valley End for a place in the national stage of the village competition.
