THE worlds of manufacturing and fine art are interacting with an innovative programme designed to introduce greater creativity into the workplace.

EEF South, the manufacturers' organisation for London and the South East, is working alongside art2work to provide an interface between businesses and artists to help develop greater innovation within companies.

Wall space on EEF South's Hampshire headquarters, in Hook, has been given over to 27 pieces of contemporary artwork by professional artists, ranging from small prints to large, colourful canvases.

Chief executive David Seall said: "There is much more synergy between business and art than might first be imagined.

"Innovation is becoming increasingly important in the success of our member companies. Faced with low-cost competition from around the world, their ability to think creatively and work innovatively will become a key factor in ensuring future success.

"Using art to improve the workplace environment and to encourage creative thinking is just one way of helping to develop a culture of innovation."

art2work offers a wide range of artworks to businesses, including photography and sculptures. It aims to make it easy for businesses to tap into the huge amount of contemporary art that is now available.
