AS the weather heats up, Mazda is offering sun-loving motorists some great deals across its range of cars, including the iconic Mazda MX-5 convertible sports car (pictured).

Local dealer Alan Gibson, in Old Basing, is offering £750 worth of free accessories on all new standard models purchased before June 30, 2005, meaning drivers can look hot while keeping cool with the top down this summer.

Add-ons, such as sporty chrome-style bars, chrome wind-blocker and a stainless steel front grille, will be popular among buyers, while the opportunity to use the accessories offer to purchase a hardtop for just £250 (usually £999.95) will appeal to true sports car enthusiasts looking for a winter option.

Fans of affordable and stylish summer motoring will also be tempted by the special edition Mazda MX-5 Icon, with its comfortable, heated seats and black leather interior with subtle orange stitching.

Adding a higher specification to that of standard MX-5 models, prices for the Mazda MX-5 Icon start at just £16,600 on the road for the 1.6i derivative or £17,100 for the more powerful 1.8i model.

All Icon models come with a free accessory pack.

When first released in the UK in 1990, the Mazda MX-5 was on sale at £14,249 (excluding delivery and numberplates).

Incredibly, 15 years later, the standard Mazda MX-5 1.6i is still available from just £15,000 on-the-road, proving that while inflation has affected many prices, Mazda still offers great value for money.

Mazda also announced the production of the all-new, third-generation MX-5 last week.

The latest and most advanced evolution of the world's best-selling roadster is the first new model to be mass-produced at Mazda's U1 plant near its headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan.

The limited edition Mazda MX-5 - painted velocity red with a red leather interior - is fitted with a 16-valve, two-litre, four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual gearbox.
