SOUTHAMPTON Running Club members took on the hilly Isle of Wight Marathon and returned with first in the team event.
First SRC man home was Roger Merritt, now returning to something like his best form of three years ago.
He completed the tough course in three hours, three minutes and 17 seconds and was followed home by veteran-45 distance specialist, Paul Carter in 3.16.00 with tenth place.
The he scoring team was closed by Malcolm Knight in 25th place with 3.29.34 to give him his 155th marathon finish.
